First up for the ZEPHYR REPORT is THE ERRATIX, a funk-rock band based in Edinburgh.

Standard Life's "Rock The Gardens II" was held in the (very water logged) West Princes Street Gardens on 11 August 2002 in aid of charities which included Breast Cancer Campaign, The Prostate Cancer Charity and the Royal National Intitute for the Blind. The show was also beamed live to screens around Covent Gardens London.

10 bands braved the appalling weather conditions to play on the Ross Bandstand, which included Dirty Blonde, Midas Touch and of cause The Erratix.

Oh! ... And did I mention ? ... IT RAINED !!!!!

This is where the ZEPHYR REPORT TEAM gave the band a grilling the night before the gig ...... and very tasty they were (grilled) too - especially with chips .......

When I received the phone call from the band, suggesting that we meet up for a drinkie-pooh on Saturday evening down the rubber-dub-dub, I naturally jumped at the chance - despite the fact that they were trying their hardest to send me to the wrong drinking-hole at first ....... but it's o.k. guy's, us English can take a hint - tee! hee!

Having made it to the pub at 8.25 and 49 seconds (6 seconds after Falcon and Vader) through the pouring rain, Vader and I spent what seemed like hours staring across a crowded bar at each other, each thinking "Is that him/her? - not sure - he/she doesn't look anything like the pictures on the web-site ..." Eventually, is was Vader who plucked up the courage to come over and ask .... otherwise we'd still be there now! .... maybe we should have gone for the red carnation in top pocket option after all, guys???

Introductions were swiftly made, followed by copious amounts of hugs, kisses and much merriment. Then the obligatory exchange of CD's were made - I was lucky enough to acquire "Erratix - let loose LIVE (Alex Zephyr Special Edition Episode II) recorded at La Belle Angele, Ed. in June 2002 which was presented in a very classy homemade cover ..... wonder what happened to Episode I ??? - tee! hee!

We then took over the corner table, next to the 'novelty fireplace' immediately below the speaker (on hindsight, not a good move) and proceeded to chatter away excitedly (well, Vader and Falcon did, Martin and I couldn't get a word in edge ways ....... tee! hee!)

Shortly afterwards Mozam and (the elusive) Inspector turned up and, after more big hugs and sloppy kisses, we all huddle up and had a good old chin-wag (well we had to huddle together in a cosy and chummy kind of way, because the bar man turned the music up and dimmed the lights so that we could neither see, nor hear each other - must be a Scottish thing!!!!)

Before we knew it, it was midnight and time to stagger ... um .. I mean wonder back to our B&B. So, after loads more hugs, kisses and more hugs (isn't life great!) we reluctantly left.

One thing is for sure though, those boys sure did know how to make us feel very welcome. They were very relaxed, a great laugh and the evening went without a single 'pregnant pause' (always a good sign!) So, hat's off to you Erratix dudes - and thank you very much for your hospitality (and excellent music, of cause!)

INTRODUCING THE ERRATIX ....

The bassman is looking slightly pensive in this photo as he was very nearly unable to join in the fun on stage, due to leaving his bass at the practice rooms on Saturday afternoon. Fortunately, Lord Vader III came to the rescue and picked it up for him on route ... guess he won't be living that one down!

Erratix fans will be well aware of Inspector's elusiveness - and for those of you not familiar with this band ..... Inspector IS elusive! But do not fear, for The Zephyr managed to get an exclusive on the band's bass man just for you!!!

More of that later, but in the mean time .......
Here we go ......

... 14:30 (Scottish time) and the band start off in fine fettle and continued in the same vain for a full 50 minute set, which included two fan-dabbi-dozzi new tracks: 'Disconnect 4' and 'Love You Like A Friend' - worth every penny of my £10 donation.

My special request for 'Julie's Freaked Out', dedicated to my mate Julie, was also played - in an all new funkier version. I even managed to get on camera!! Recorded for prosperity is me clapping along (although probably not to the beat) to their final track Erratica. Apparently, there is a video kicking around to prove it .......

Despite the rain there were quite a number of people in the audience enjoying their performance - and even more in the bar jigging along to the funk/rock harmonies, whilst trying not to spill their beer.

Vader look's every bit the pro in this picture too - well, lets face it - he (and the other band members) are a very polished act and a joy to watch.
